For the past two decades, TORNA has led the way in uniquely different adventure and cultural journeys in India & abroad. The company is owned & operated by Major Satnam Singh an Ex- Indian Army Officer from the Cavalry. He has spent the last 18 years organizing high quality journeys, expeditions, honeymoons, family holidays, and alternative adventures throughout India and overseas.


We have spent many years trying to develop different itineraries from the run of the mill trips that are generally available, to give a far better experience. Last but not the least, we use international standard equipment and infrastructure in all our trekking & climbing expeditions and we do not sublet our contracts.

Himalyan Hikes - organize guided treks for novices as well as experienced adventure enthusiasts with a focus on development of body, mind and soul. Hiking in Himalayas is an experience to be cherished for a life time. In ancient time, crossing rivers and high passes, sleeping in the open, hunting and surviving in jungles and in inhospitable terrains was more due to man`s insatiable desire to see, explore and learn. TRANSPORTATION
From tuk tuk and rickshaw to public bus, train and bullock carts, we’re all about variety. Sometimes local transport is the best and most colourful way to go. But, depending on destination, service level and trip style, we provide alternative ways of getting around, too.



ACCOMMODATION
From unique home stays and hotels to sleeping moored under the stars in a tranquil bay, our options will provide you with the most authentic experience possible and will always reflect the local character and spirit of your adventure.



Grading a HIKE is very subjective – Mole for one, may be a mountain for another!!



BUT ANY ONE AND EVERYONE CAN HIKE:

We have graded our HIKES in general terms of 'Easy', 'Moderate', 'Strenuous' and 'Challenging'. This enables us to group together various treks under the same categories which generally adhere to similar guidelines – length, altitude, hours walked each day etc…

Easy: Altitude around 3000 MTS. and 3-5 Hrs. walking per day on a level trek with ascent & descents. Can be undertaken by anyone with normal state of fitness. No previous experience is required.


Moderate: 4000 MTS with 4 to 5 Hrs. of walking in hilly terrains. A reasonable level of health & fitness is required.


Strenuous: 4500 MTS with long walks on a difficult rugged terrain. Physical preparation is required.


Challenging: 5000 MTS with 6-9 Hrs. above with long stretches of walk with extreme temperatures and climatic conditions. Physical preparation and open minded approach is essential. These hike and trails involves walking scree, snow or difficult paths on steep mountainsides.


Tough: 6000 MTS with 7-12 Hrs. of walking on mountainous terrain involving high passes, walking on snow and ice with technical equipment and climbing gears. A demanding trek, high level of physical fitness with basic knowledge to use Crampons, Ice Axe and Ropes, Rappelling and Sledging is required.
